Mine does the same thing... it is the coil. As for what to do with it, I don't really know. I got one from Summit, and it made the noise. I called them up and sent it back. Got the replacement and it's not as loud as the last one, but you can still hear it when the windows are up at lower rpms.

Wink

I had the same problem with the Accel coil that came with my Notch. Didn't care for it much, and since the stock TFI system is good for 50kV, I bought a new stock replacement. No probs since. I didn't see how something buzzing under my hood was doing much for me anyhow, other than making me worry if it was going to explode or something.

Could it be a loose or improper ground? That can cause a buzz in a lot of electrical equipment. Just a thought.

Many people seem to experience this noise with aftermarket coils. Send it back, you dont need it, stock coil is great.

Thumbs down

PeTr0,

Get rid of that piece of junk by MSD but before you do, compare it to the stock coil. You'll see the stocker is built much better, also it’s more than sufficient.

I went through three of those MSD #8227 coils, they didn't do anything accept Buzzzzzzz. Shame on MSD for marketing crap like that!

I offered to sell mine on this forum for $5, plus shipping, it only has about 400 miles on it. The offer still holds.... Any takers?

My stock coil buzzed but that was two to three days before it died (I don't know why it did, so don't ask). I had a MSD Blaster coil and it did nothing but buzz loudly. It worked fine for the time I had it, but now I've got the Accel 300+ Race ignition system and that coil does not buzz, only the ignition box does slightly...

Thumbs up

2 years ago I put in a Crane PS-91. It has buzzed to the day. Aftermarket coils will do that.
Besides, did you know the buzzing is good for 20 hp? Well thats what the Chevy guys claim! Just kidding.
