Default Help: Will I have Clearance problems

hi guys-

I've been lurking around this forum for a while now and finally have a question to ask you guys.

Will I have cleareance issues using the Comp Cam 270 H magnum (224/224@.05 lift .500 .500 110degrees)with the Roush 200 heads (2.02/1.60).

My car recently had a rebuild before I bought it so I am not sure what kind of pistons I have, but if they are stock pistons will I have clearance issues. I have a 1970 Block 351 Windsor.

Also what do you guys think about my 270H Magnum cam and Roush 200 combo?? I will also be using a rpm air gap manifold with my 670 Holley street avenger carb and 1 3/4 headers, I want to shoot for atleast 350 horsepower.

thanks in advance-

Al

Well welcome to the board, nice to see another '69 Mach 1 to the board. I really don't know about that setup... cause I'm pretty knew to this car thing so I can't really tell you what's good and what's bad performance wise, but I would like to know what others thing aswell. I hope to put in a new cam in next summer. How hard is it to do? And is it dangerious doing it yourself, like is it easy to mess up? Cause I hope to be pulling the engine out for the winter and cleaning it up and ****.

I currently have the Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, Holley 650 Carb. MSD Ignition, Mallroy Distributor, and I am assuming everything else is stock. I was thinking of going with a Edelbrock RPM Cam. but I'm not quite sure really what's good out there, but I hope to learn more as I go along.

Enjoy the site and hope someone can be abit more help then me.

§am.

I've got the Comp Cam Extreme Energy 230/236 ... .520 .523 XE274H-10 pretty much same setup Roush 200's on a 351W with 10 to 1 Keith Black pistons ... deck clearance is .000 ... pistons have an 8cc dish. I haven't put the motor together yet because of funding problems (gotta have money to eat lol) but once i get to that point i'll post the valve clearance. Anyway you look at it you need to physically check it !! Don't count on somebody elses combo, check it yourself !

1969 Mach 1-thanks for the welcome, also nice car

I too have never put in a cam in before my car but I have a couple books and also with forums like this it shouldnt be too difficult to install a cam.

If you like there's a cool step-by-step cam install procedure at ford muscle.com, here's the link

HotRoddin-looking forward to your futher updates when you get your motor put together. Also will do on the checking of the clearances myself.
