![]() This seems very bad on my part but I have a dumb question if the timing was set correctly, but the idle speed sensor was on upside down what affect would this have on the car? *and please no rude comments I know it wasw a dumb mistake but this is my first 5.0 restore and build up so please be kind with the info

![]() I'd be the last person to make fun of so-called "dumb questions" Lord knows, I ask a bunch of em. Are you talking about the Throttle position sensor? I am not knowing this idle sensor thing. But then, I am still in developement after three + years of Mustangology.

![]() The Throttle position sensor is on top of the throttle body, the idle speed sensor is the log sensor attached to the side if you were looking at the front of the engine it would be toward you and mounted at a 45 degree or so angle, I just noticed today I had mounted it wrong, I took pictures of the engine before dismantling it then I guess I didn't pay enough attention to them when I put it back together, Thanks for the reply though

![]() Idle air motor...this is nothing more than a type of solenoid valve that lets air around the throttle body to prevent the car from stalling.I flipped mine to give space for my nitrous express plate....just put small dimple in my hood were it hit....worked fine.

![]() I flipped it back around but I noticed in pictures of other cars engine compartments it was bothe ways so this probably didn't have any effect one way or the other but waht about the MAP sensor I converted this 87 GT to MASS AIR a local ford tech told me to plug the vaccum line to the sensor off he said this along with timing may be my problem, I pulled valve covers and pushrods and roller rockers O.K. so I will re-assemble tommorrow and see what happens #1 up on compression stroke, rotor as close to 12:00 without going past plug off vaccum line and see what happens, any thoughts? if not keep your fingers crossed I will let you know!
