Unhappy Dreaded Idle Surge

Yeah, it's started. It took 1100 miles of break-in before it did.. If I take it out of gear, it stalls. If it DOES stall, it's holy hell trying to get it to idle again. First question is, what causes this? Is this because the cam was installed a couple of degrees off? Second, is there a way to lessen the surging or stop it from happening? Earlier today I put it into Neutral coming to a stop light rather than giving it gas and downshifting it into Drive (the cam makes the transmission jerk when I leave it in Overdrive and decelerate)... So the car stalls very quickly..I start it back up, and it stalls again. Start it up a third time and it drops to about 200 rpms where I manage to recover it..but it keeps surging and my turning lane arrow is green. I couldn't get it to stop surging, so I brought the rpms to 1100-1200, and neutral dropped it so I could go.

If I raise my idle speed up, can I at least get rid of the stalling problem? Thanks.

Set your idle with your set screw to 1000 rpm. This will take care of the stalling. E-cams surge like this all of the time. If you get a custom chip this will help some.

I actually lowered my idle a week ago because it had raised itself about 100 rpms somehow (dont ask, I dont know how!) and wasn't sounding quite as lopey anymore..I like it to still lope when it's in gear. If it gets that irritating though, I'll definitely do that. Thanks man.
