idleing to fast

cold start it,s fine. after running car for a while when stopped at a light it will idle 1500-2000 tapping the throttle just makes it worse? could my mass air meter be causing this?

I take you switched it over to mass air right. but i dont think its a mass air problem if it was it would usually idle LOW I think its TPS IAC related, clean the Idle Air Control and check TPS just because it shows the right volts doesnt mean its good, you need a scope to check it properly. also vacum leaks could cause such a case. any other advice let me know

It seem to be a vaccum leak. My car did the same thing.Good luck.

I read a post on another site that pertained to the high idle. They posted to clean the two main connectors for the harness at the back of the engine one pin at a time and then put the dielectric grease on the pins. This is a problem for quite a few cars. Some people who read the post stated they had the same prob then cleaned theres and it worked great. Its worth a try if you've done everything else.

Does your brake pedal ever feel really hard when you are idling up to a light? Do you have a vacuum tester? Auto Zone sells them if not. See how much vacuum you are pulling. It should be around 15 inches.

Actually, with no internal mods, 15" of vacuum is borderline crappy. A new engine will pull 20"+, an engine w/100k miles on it will pull 17". My rule of thumb is 18" is expected. If it's more than that, fine. If it's less than that, I need an explaination, and look for it. With any internal modifications, my numbers are worthless.
