![]() As some of you know I made the mistake of removing the bolt from the driver side of my t-5. Now, I have the trans out of the car, and all the bolts removed from the shifter base, the tailhousing and the top plate. Problem is, I can't get the top plate off. Do I have to remove the cotter pin holding the shifter shaft to the housing? If so, please tell me how.
To clarify: the only thing I want to remove is the top plate. I'm sitting at my pc right now waiting for your response. Thanks guys |

![]() Yea, you have to remove the roll pin and slide the shifter base off. Just use a punch to tap it through and pull the base off, it might be a little snug but it will come off. There willalso be a bearing and spring at the bottom of the base. Aslo you will need to shift the top plate over to left (when facing trans from front to back) to slide it off.

![]() I figured out that it has to be in 5th gear for the pin to come out. Anyway, thanks for your help, I got the car on the road half hour ago.
