Ignition problem.
Last fall I bought a 1983 gt with no motor - well we just put a 92 truck motor in it (converted to carb) thats just fyi; the motor is fine and has good power. The problem was the car had been owned by goofy hill people and the ignition switch was set up as follows: To start car do this 1.turn key to run position 2. flip hill person add on togel switch 3. press add on hill person horn button to turn starter and motor fires and runs as normal. Call us crazy but we wanted it to start like other cars Here is what we did. We changed the collom (was not good)and put in a new ignition switch and pluged in every thing after removing all of their hill people stuff. Now the car will crank and start but it will only run if you hold the key between the start and run positions - if you let loose it kills the motor. We also tried it with another ignition switch that we know is good and we get the same thing. So guys any ideas? Thanks a bunch.
