Unhappy ignition problems

I have a 93 GT that sometimes makes a clicking sound under the dash when I turn the key. Turn it a couple of times and the car starts. I figured it was the ignition switch so I pulled the cover off the column and noticed these funky looking bolts bolting the switch to the column. B4 I tackle those, could this be something else? The switch isn't making noise, the noise comes from under the dash on the driver's side.

If the contacts inside the switch are bad, then the relays that the switch powers up will have their power interupted, thus causing the relays to open and close, unexpectedly, creating a clicking.

The screws in question are breakaway screws, and are designed to have their heads break off at just the right torque for being tightened. Makes it harder to steal, supposedly. You're going to need an easy-out extractor, or a drill and a steady hand.

Take care,
~Chris

about the recall, I already called cause I had heard that as well. Ford gave me a big fat NO. Chris, from what you say, sounds like the swich is bad. I think I'll forgo the drill and try to get the tool. Unfortunately, I'm stationed in the middle of Nowhere, Missouri so it may take some looking. Thanks 4 the advice!
