Post I'm pissed! What should I do?

I bought a 347-stroker kit from coast high and I ordered the 4340 crank, ultra light rods, and forged pistons.

I took the crank to a shop here in town and the owner told me that the crank was a 5140 and not a 4340.
I called probe because they charged me more money for the 4340 crank and on the receipt it says it's a 5140 and he told me it's a misprint and he is positive they sent me a 4340 crank and insisted that he saw the 4340 go out and even confirmed it with his machine shop.

I told him that Brent Frazier at Brent Frazier engineering told me that it was a 5140 and he told me he is wrong and that you can not tell the difference between a 5140 and a 4340 by looking at it.
I took his word on it and said ok that I just wanted to make sure that I got what I paid for.
He told me if I did not trust him that I could pay to send it back and if it is a 5140 that he would send the 4340 but it could take 4 to 6 weeks to get it back and they will not reimburse me for the shipping charges.

Today Brent Frazier told me that they called him and asked him why he was telling me that I had a 5140 crank, he said because he does and the guy at probe said I know he does but you don’t have to tell him that.

This guy admitted to Brent that I have a 5140 and paid for a 4340.

I was going to start building the motor this weekend and now I don't know what I should do.

Brent told me the 5140 would be fine but I feel like I got ripped off.

Thats not the first horror story I've heard about Probe Industries. Maybe they don't realize how many people these forums and lists reach.Thats a lot of potential business lost. I know I won't take a chance on them, up where I live I would never get any customer service.

Don't let them screw you. If you cannot get anywhere with Coast, contact the better business bureau in your area. You can find them on the web and get info about a regional office that will take your claim. They have been a great help to me in the past. Brent's statement will be key to you getting things resolved. If it were me, I would push to send everything back at their expense, get your full refund, and take your business to another shop. Thanks for the warning to all of us.

Yeah I agree, pack it all up and sent it back and tell him that you will take your $$$ and future business elsewhere, you paid hard earned money for those parts and did not get what you paid for, totally unacceptable. I was looking at stroking my next motor when ever that comes, but it won't be from Probe/CHP, I have heard good things about Ford Performance Solutions.

Do they have a website and an email address? I think we should bomb them with emails saying that we know what they've done and if they don't correct it free of charge then we'll keep spreading the word! I hate hearing stuff like this from some of these mail order companies.

I think that I don't have much choice but to keep it because I will be with out a car in two weeks and I have to get the motor assembled and running.

The car I am using belongs to my mom and I have to give it back in two weeks.

I know they will not work with me under my terms and I have a timeline.

I think I will try to get them to give me a receipt with the 4340 on it since they insist that was what they shipped, then if I break something I will have a little leverage.

I do not think I will break anything but if I do then I will make them replace everything that breaks or I will sue them.

I don't know if I am making the right decision but I don't have much of a choice.

I thought I had done enough research and found a good company to but from but I guess I was wrong.

At least I got a good price. The guy set my ex-boss up as a dealer and gave me a dealer price, which was almost 600 dollars less than the original quote.

I think I will take MDM's advice and call the better business bureau (After I get my new receipt!) and report it to them but Brent is a dealer and is not going to tell that to anyone else. My word against theirs.

But I will damn sure let people know what they did.
