I wouldn't buy something that is used for a job that is so critical to the proper functioning of your engine. I think the Crane and Holley FPRs are of questionable quality, too. A decent adjustable FPR should cost around $90. The best thing to do would be to keep the stock unit or buy a stock replacement if you don't have any major modifications that would require increasing fuel pressure to provide more fuel.

thanks for the help,

i am looking for one because i am pushing close to 300 HP and i want to get the most out of the 19# inj. before i have to upgrade. i dont have the money now.

so if i made a few more PSI i figure i can get a little more fuel out of them....

let me know what you think.

thanks again,
adam

Have you upgraded your fuel pump yet? A 155lph should be sufficient.

Based on your HP numbers, I would go ahead and purchase a good FPR.

Kirban makes a quality piece for $75 from GTR Performance, it's cool looking, and it's rebuildable.

You won't need an adjustable FPR with 24# injectors. You will need to the fuel pump, though.

As far as what you can lose with a faulty FPR, you can lose your engine because of a poorly managed fuel supply. You also lose $15 that could have been put toward a quality FPR, or, better yet, the fuel pump you absolutely should have.

The thing that would concern me about a used FPR is that even though it may have worked on the car of the guy you're buying it from, the diaphragm has been exposed to gasoline and has now been dried out. It may crack and cause fuel to leak directly into the intake. This could cause backfiring into the intake and no start conditions.

Hopefully it will work out for you.
