Thumbs up Tremec 3550, aluminum fly & clutch INSTALLED!

Well, I got it all buttoned up this weekend!

Here's what got installed:

1) Tremec 3550;
2) King Cobra Clutch & pressure plate;
3) Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel; and
4) McLoud Steel Blow-proof bellhousing

The install went pretty well considering this was my first time pulling and installing a new tranny.

I was a little concerned with the aluminum flywheel being difficult to start out in 1st gear with and concerned about the possibility of tough shifting of the Tremec. After the first test drive, I am very pleased!!! The Tremec shifts like a dream! The gears engage very easily and when they do engage it feels much "notchier" than the T5. You can definately feel 2nd gear grab and 3rd feels tougher than ever. As for taking off from a dead stop, the aluminum flywheel is just fine. After a couple stop and starts, I was used to how it launched. For those of you wondering about loss of low end torque, it really isn't even an issue!

I am so pumped that all this turned out so well. The tranny and new clutch feel very strong - and the best thing is no more leaky T5!!! WOO HOO. And, with only an 11 pound flywheel, the acceleration is quicker. As for looks, the steel bellhousing looks awesome - like a real race car!

I've got a little over 70 miles on all the new parts so only 430 to go until I can really lay into her.

Thanks to all that helped me with my questions and concerns. Thanks to Wes and Mike for their help with the install.

Take care, E

Eric,

Good job on the install of the new tranny and clutch. I was beginning to wonder if you dropped off the earth. Once again good job

Good luck with your Tremec.....the next 430 miles will probably be the longest 430 you've ever driven . I keep waiting for my stock T5 to go so I can throw a Tremec in, but it just won't give up.....oh well.

Yes, the next 430 miles are going to be tough. Resisting the temptation to row her through the gears with the pedal down is going to be hard!

I've already come across a newer SS that I couldn't run becasue of it.
