Intake for AFR 165
Hey guys.
I’m currently installing a set of 58cc Stud mount AFR 165cc on my Stang. My Girlfriend has been observing how hard I’m working on the process and suggest I just go ahead and get the complete up and lower intake. Now the question what would be the best intake for this setup? Would the Performer RPM be too much for this setup? Its my daily driver, and I don't want to loss to much low end. What do you guys think would be the best intake? Also, will the stock throttle body and EGR bolt up to an new intake system? I will replace the Throttle body/EGR later but for now I will use the stock setup. Check signature for current setup. |
I would suggest the Holley Intake, it would go great with you heads, and it's pretty much the best intake out there. Most aftermarket intakes have a 70mm opening, so the stock TB one would just be a restriction.

there really isn't such thing as the best intake. same goes for heads and cams. Its what will best suit your needs. Since you are looking for more street power than anything, I would suggest something that isn't quite as aggressive as the Holley. Yes it is a very good intake, just not the best for lower RPM use IMO. I'd suggest going with one of the FRPP intakes, (cobra or GT40). And if your on a budget like me, try to find an explorer intake. They flow close to the cobra/GT40 and are ALOT cheaper. I found mine used for $150. Any of these intakes will make great power on the street.
hope this helps |
Thanks
Between the Performer and the TFS Street manifold which would be the best for the AFR 165 without the loss of low-end torque?
Thanks |

ok look at my sig I just drove it so far 25 miles and The Dang thing goes like a Rocket to 6400RPMS all I have had it up too. I will be diving it more today
:D :D |
Trick Flow Street, I've had it, if your choosing between that and the edelbrock, I'd def. go with the Trick Flow Street, but I'm parcial to Trick Flow, plus I think it looks alot better. IMO the Holley is the best, I've seen all the intakes compared against each other, and the Holley destroyed them all. Not just top-end, but all over the power range. And with a Holley, etc...the minor low end loss is not going to be a big deal. If you put AFR's on your stang , you HAVE to upgrade your intake, no if's, and's, or but's, YOU HAVE TOO! Well you really don't have to, but you'd be really stupid not too. Ask all the fast guys on here what they think the best intake is, and most of them are going to tell you Holley.
