Which Iron Heads & Intake?

well im in the search for a new set of heads and an intake.

i need an iron head and was wondering what everyone runs(eewww.... iron heads???? :D )

also for an intake, is the cobra better than that typhoon(low buck intakes), or is the holley worth the money over them bolth?

right now im running an e cam, 1.7 rockers, stock ported e7te's, afpr, ported stock intake, 73mm maf, 70mm t-body, pullies and some other boltons.

id like to get into the mid 12 range with the car and be totally reliable and streetable(main reason i went with the e303, but now wishing i went tfs#1)

Most iron heads will match well with the flow charactaristics of a GT40/Cobra/Explorer. The Holley is a good intake but it's not the right intake for this application - unless you wind up with seriously worked Windsor Jr or Sr heads.

Those are the heads I was going to suggest.

I am currently running 12.60's @107.48mph @3800ft. I have the E303 cam and a ported cobra intake. I made 301RWHP and 330RWTQ with an awesome torque curve.

My point being the E303 cam and cobra intake can easily get you were you want to go.

Iron heads? I can answer that in two words. Windsor SENIOR!

I had a set on my last motor, and they ROCKED!!!! Had them redone, and sold 'em on ebay for $700!!! Like a sore peter, can't beat it!

Iron heads can be ported, and flow just as much as aluminum, some guys say more, but the only drawback is the weight.

Only problem when hunting down a set of Windsor Sr. heads.... The rights to the casting changed hands several times. Went from "Dart" Windosr Sr., to "World Products", and now I think the current owner is Roush, then I lost track of them.

Latest Summit catalog has them listed as Windsor R 200 (R= Roush 200=intake CC) Part # WRL-053040 or WRL-053030 and some suffixes depending on what you want.

If I HAD to run iron heads, these would be the ones. I had a set, they ROCKED, and I loved 'em!!! ;)

EFI intakes? I'm gonna gracefully bow out of that one, cuz I plain flat out don't know shizzle about EFI. Throw a carb on it, and we'll talk. hehehehe

ok, so the explorer/cobra/gt40 intake is a good one for the e cam though?

Yes, and if the heads you use flow more than ~210cfm, consider porting the lower intake.
