Post why is my window screaching?

my drivers side window is making a really annoying and kinda loud screach when it goes down or up, it seems to be worse the colder it is outside

it kinda sounds like metal scraping glass but i dont see any scratches (i guess it could be scratching the lower part of the window that you dont see)

is this possible? or is it more likely to be part of the scissor arm assembly thing?

im basically asking if this is a common problem and whats the best way to fix it?

thanks everyone

My '89 did the screeching thing too. Go to the hardware store and get a tube of graphite powder. Lower your window, squirt some graphite in the front and rear track. Raise the window a little, give it another squirt. Do that several times. If the tracks are dry, this should cure the problem after several cycles of the window.

If it still screeches, maybe someone else here can pinpoint the problem further.

You may want to spray silicone into the weather seals on the door frame. And take off door panels and lube all the tracks if the silicone doesn't work. Hope it works.

mine turned out to be...
in the door panel you will see the guides for the glass. little metal tabs covered with felt or something - replace or lube those up. Or, they might have come a bit loose and shifted.

LMAO- My wife rode in the stang this evening (come on, she gets to at least ride in it sometimes as long as her feet stay on the mat..) and she cringed and gave me crap for the window screaming as it goes up. I'll take the advice when I'm putting in my new actuators tomorrow....
