jerking pony?

I have been having a problem with my 90 5.0 jerking or surging when I try to cruise between 1300 to 2000 rpm. My question is, " am I driving with the rpms to low or is there something wrong with my car? It seems to be ok when I drive with the rpms close to 2000. I am thinking about taking it to the shop for repairs. Am I having a problem or am I just driving with my rpm's to low? Any information you could give me would help.

Thanks

Yea i would say you need to be in higher rpms, i think anything under 2k in gear will make my car kinda buck a little, is your clutch in good shape? i dunno anything else.

sounds like your bogging the motor

I would unplug the TPS, attach a DMM with a bargraph, set to ohms, and rotate it slowly while watching the bargraph. If it get's jumpy at all, you have found a worn spot or two in the rheostat, which is causing the signal to the ECM to vary when it shouldn't, causing a jerking motion.

Or it could be you bogging the engine, but I'd check the TPS the way I described.

Take care,

I'm assuming he's got a standard, cause I have an AOD and I feel it surge at certain RPMs too... I'd check into the TPS thing, I assumed it was something like that.. though it doesnt bother me enough.. I'm usulay all or nothing on the gas anyway... :)

I run my pony between 1300 and 2000 at cruise speed. I never have any problems with it bogging down or hesitating. It just a little less responce under 2k. I try to keep it about 2k just incase I need to romp on it for whatever reason :D. You are driving in the proper RPM range. Check your computer and see if your thoughing any codes.

I had a problem like that at one point and a reset the TPS. Problem solved.

My friend has a B-cam in his car and it has a dead spot at 1500, if he tries to keep it there, it just starts bucking.
