Just bought 88 2.3 T-5 Notch parts car !!!!!
The guy was asking $150. I had a good feeling when he mentioned how bad the front tires were, since it was a notchback with a grey interior it was worth the drive up to Bow NH from my work in Nashua. As we drove up to it, I noticed the good hood and headlights and said to myself "sold"
Int is in good shape, has a good grey drivers seat which I need. No dents rusty pass fender decklid and around the rear 1/4 good doors, power windows mirrors and locks. I almost burst in laughter when I found out it has 86 K miles and starts right up has good exhaust etc... So much for the idea of striping it down, it runs and drives too good. I will swap the better parts over to the 90 and re install the other stuff. What stuff does interchange between the 2.3 and 5.0 cars?? I would have to imagine the T-5 is weaker?? It works just fine for the short drive I did. This is just too funny, now I have 5 cars, gotta get rid of 2 now. Anyone else have a 4 cyl version?? i just finished one..and the car was auto also so i had to swap it to my tremec(changing pedals is a PITA)..any questions feel free to email me..mine was a 87..hey if you strip that thing but leave a shell and it still rolls and you dont want it i might want to take it off ur hands...

I am picking up my second stang tonight. It is a '93 notch, 4cyl. auto. One dent in the truck lid thats it. Carpet needs cleaning but other than that great car. I have a wrecked '90 5.0 wwith a t-5. The motor is a '86 block I was told they have a thicker crank web design. It is .030 over and has ported and polished exhaust ports. The man who helped me do the swap said to leave the intake runners alone because its a daily driver. I want to install a E-303 cam, aluminum roller rockers, hi-fire ignition, stud girdle, windage tray, cobra intake, 24 pound injectors, 70mm mass air and throttle body when I do the swap. I will aventually install a vortech s-trim but thats later down the road. i just have to get the motor, tranny, and wiring harness out of the wreck. I did the aod to t-5 swap in my '90 model but I didnt think it was that bad. Maybe I just got lucky but it only took me and a buddy about 3 hours to install all the brackets and clutch pedal under the dash. LX XLR8R what kinda probs other than the pedal did you run into doing the swap?

i had to jump a wire for the fuel pump..i htink thats it..everything went smoothly..o yea rebending the 4cly fuel lines is a pain..id recremend swapping in th ones fomr the wreacked one you got..same thing with brake lines and hardware..i got my fuel and brake lines rigged up for now till i can get my hands on a 5.0 to take it from

What about the 4 cyl T-5 is that really the same trans as the 5.0 uses? It sure looks the same. It looks real empty under the hood, is there a cross member missing from the 5.0 version??

The 4 cylinder T5 is not rated for as much torque as the 5.0 T5. The input shaft is a little longer and needs a different pilot bearing if you're putting it in a 5.0. The gear ratios are also a little different than the 5.0.

no the front crossmber is the same..the rear(tranny) however you need from a 5.0..all mustangs have 5.0 tranny crossmebers allready wleded in..in the 4cly they put aditional bolt in braces for the crossmeber..when swapping from 4 to 8 you need just to remove the bolt in 4cly crossmeber brace

The 4 banger has a 7.5 rearend, no limited slip either.
