King Cobra Clutch?
 

Has anyone used the Heavy Duty "King Cobra" clutch kit from Ford Motorsport? The part number is M-7560-C302.

Well i hear the KC has less pedal effort, making it easier in traffic, I know I like the FMS HD clutch i have, it holds up great on the strip too, but i had this chick tell me she couldnt push it in? that it was too tough?? trying to drive my car...heh, I guess im used to it, it doesnt bother me. the king cobra really shouldnt be any more durable than the motorsport, but maybe a little....good luck...

I use the KC clutch. It was in my 88 when I bought it and was said to be about 6 months old. I like it. The pedal effort isn't too bad, but it's definately not like a stock one. My wife has driven it and never complained about it, but when I was driving my friend's Nissan for a couple of days, I kept slamming my left foot into his floorboard because I wasn't used to his extremely easy clutch:p . I've never had any slipping problems with it, it grips well for me. However I don't run slicks yet, so it's not like I really abuse it too much. I've always heard good things about it from others who use it and I'd buy it again.

Yea, same with my fms h.d, i havent slipped it yet, out of about 20 4500-5k launches, i smelt the clutch just a little on the topend twice, using e.t. streets, that was with a prepped track, and i think that just broke the clutch in, since it only has about 8k miles on it.

if you drive your car everyday, you might wish you spent the extra 50$ on the king cobra, i know i regret not doing it, although the fms is holding good also.

Well I guess I will be the first one to bash the KC on here. I HAD it in my Mustang for about 6 months when I burned it up. Went to do a burnout using my line-lock and burned that clutch right up. Granted I had done a few burnouts before this one, but it couldn;t take anymore I guess. Never ran anything but street tires with that clutch. The pedal effort was pretty easy, took me a while to get used to it, but it just didn't seem to be as strong as they said it would be. I have a car quest clutch in there now, and have had no problems at all. Maybe it was just the way my luck runs, but I doubt I will ever but another one. Just my 2 cents.

King Cobra clutch review
 

I installed a King Cobra clutch in my near-stock '90 LX about 28,000 miles ago and love it.

Easy pedal effort, grabs good and holds fine, although I don't really abuse it much.

For anything near stock or that isn't raced every weekend, it's fine, but if you have real mods or race constantly, you'll probably need something even stronger in a clutch. Of course, proper installation is crucial and it seems that everyone's experience is a bit different.

That's probably a reflection of the varied uses and drivers that have the King Cobra clutch rather than any inherent differences in the clutch itself.

I recommend it, with the caveat mentioned.

I installed a KC clutch when I put my Tremec in this past fall.

So far (500 miles or so), I'm very pleased with it. Pedal effort is easy. Definately a little more "grabby" (is that a word? :D ) than the old stock one that it replaced, but the old stocker was much more worn.

I'm close to 350 FWHP and it works very well for my application.
