ticking/knocking
i have an 89 lx. the guy that owned it b4 me put on the exhaust and intake at the same time and ever since then my car has a sort of knocking noise coming from the drivers side of the motor. it is not an oil knock or a rod know i know that, and the compression test showed all cylinders to be okay (not that that really matters). does anyone have any ideas of what could be making this sound. O yeah it doesnt do it all the time, after it sits for a long time and i start it up it is quiet until it gets warmer, and other times when it is warm it stops... PLEASE HELP

This is sorta hard to diagnose over the internet. I'd say it might be the header leaking, a loose rocker or a collapsed lifter, although the header and rocker wouldn't stop making noise at any point so maybe its the lifter.

This may sound stupid but check the plug wires. I had a knocking noise on my car for the longest time and couldnt figure it out. It would knock sometimes and and not others real weird. I checked all the rocker arms and lifters many times then one day I wiggled the plug wire while the car was running and it stopped. I bought a new set of wires and the noise was gone. I think the wire had something wrong where the wire and the boot came together or something.
