lakewood lift bars question???
 

I have a 89 coupe. I recently installed a set of lakewood lift bars on it. But know, it seems like it hooks up worse than the stock control arms did. I run ET streets on the rear at all times. (street or track) Ive rechecked the torque settings to make sure that they were not too tight, and they were right on the money. And the car does lift off the line, but it just doesnt seem to hook right. What could be my problem? Any ideas???

Generally speaking, the lift bars will hit the tires harder than a set of straight bars. If you want to list all of your suspension pieces, launch rpm, tire pressure, gears, etc.... I might be able to help.

Just to keep confusion down, the lakewoods that I own are the ones that take the place of the lower control arms, just like the south sides and the megabite jrs. etc. Ok, the front consist of 4cyl. springs, lakewood 90/10 struts, and no sway bar. The rear has only the lakewood lift bars and the battery in the trunk(if that matters). Im running M/T ET streets (26x10.50), between 8 to 12 psi depending on track conditions and temp And 3.73 gears.I usually leave the line at about 4000 but have to drop to about 2500 to 3000 to get it to hook decent. But my 60ft times are like 2.0. but Im running 7.90s(in the eighth) Any ideas?

How old are your tires? I start to see a difference in the way mine hook after about 10 passes. Is your car stripped down, or does it have all the sound deadner, interior, etc..?

For now, I'd try bolting 100 lbs in your rear bumper. I hate to add weight to fix a problem, but it would be fairly cheap and you might be able to learn something. In the meantime, save up for a set of replacement uppers and rear shocks.

yea my tires are getting pretty old. The rear seat is removed from the car as well as all of the sound deadner, and spare tire,jack, trunk carpet, etc. Who makes a good set of uppers to go with the lift bars?

Wolfe, HP Motorsport, or UPR would be my 3 choices (in order) for a set of uppers. If you were able to scale your car to find the weight bias I could recommend some other pieces too.
