Lap top tuning????

My wife broght hame a bad a55 lap top for me for our aniversary. What is the stuff to get to tune the car? I am not looking for a flame war, just options, and opinions.

TwEECer is pretty big and I know a lot of people who like it, I've heard that you have to be very knowledgeable on what all the adjustments do in it though. You could also setup a Anderson PMS and have your laptop record data. Those are the only ones off the top of my head, I know there's more out there though. ~Brian

Laptop tuning is great for turbo/supercharged cars. All of the N/A guys I have seen laptop tuning dont really run any better.

Just dont do like that guy on The Fast and the Furious and punch buttons while you are racing.:D

I have an old Toshiba laptop I was thiking about hooking up to my stang but I figured with my mild set-up it wouldnt do much good.

I think big on the Think that there is a program called ACCELL. I seen it in MM&FF.

Well I do have a supercharger in the closet, But I don't want to simply monitor what going on, I would like to alter it.

I had my mind made up I was going to get a PMS till I did some research and found out that the TwEECer RT does more for a lot less. Yes, it is not something that will be just plug and play and it does have a steep learning curve (I am still low on that curve) but it allows you to go in and change pretty much anything the computer controls and it data logs too! Check out these links: http://tweecer.oplnk.net/ http://www.tweecer.com/

I am getting ready to purchase a wideband to hook-up and data log to my TwEECer. With this setup I won't need the dyno for anything but bragging rights.
;) There are other units out there and some of them may be easier to use (the TwEECer is pretty new and it will get better as time passes, Mike Glover the owner of the company is always working on improvements and new features for it...) but I don't think any of them will do as much for the money. The more mods you have the more you will gain from something like this. Check out this guys gains:

"I went and got the car dynoed again today after installing the 83# injectors. I knew beforehand that the car was running pretty crappily, and took that into account when tuning. The first pass was a crappy 499.3/492.4 with the A/F ratio going less than 10:1 at 4600. A few pulls later with help from my trusty tweecer yielded 612 rwhp @ 6150 and 526.9 rwtq @ 6100 rpm."

That is on one of the links I posted above.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Am i reading this right stangsrule? Did you say that you put down 612hp to the wheels:eek: ? What is your part list for that kind of power?

Wade

No, sorry if I didn't make that clear, it was a copy and paste from the TwEECer web site and is what some guy out in Texas achieved with the TwEECer on his combo. Check it out (and others) here: http://www.tweecer.com/results.html
I have yet to do serious tuning with my TwEECer as my car is parked right now, and I won't have that much HP at the wheels! Maybe at the flywheel with the nitrous...:D

They are not taking an orders right now. I think the RT is what I'll get.

stangsrule 01-25-2003 10:33 PM

What little bit I have played with mine has really impressed me. And being able to data log is just too cool!!! Not to mention that it can become invaluable for troubleshooting and tuning issues. It is pretty complicated/confusing at first but there are plenty of others out there willing to help out and answer questions so that makes it a lot better. I think you will like it.:D
