Default leaky sunroof

After a lot of rain, I usually get a wet passenger seat in my 90 GT. I assume its from the sunroof. Is this a common problem? I figured I could just replace the 2 pieces of sunroof weatherstripping but the cheapest I have seen them is around $165 for both! Is there a better deal out there? Can I have a problem other than the weatherstripping? I saw 4 drain holes up there, can they be clogged or something? Thanks.

Before you replace both seals on your sunroof - take a coat hanger and ram it down the drain holes on the sun roof that takes the water off the roof and runs it to the ground. Usually these things get clogged that will cause leakage.

stupid question- how long does the coat hanger have to be and where exactly does the water exit?

I think it drains down by the windshield roof supports to the quarter panels and out to the ground. Any standard coat hanger should work - I think the drain usually gets gunked up close to the sun roof.

Be careful! These are actual tubes, plastic I believe and you can tear one and then you will have serious leaks. If you know anyone that welds or have a weld shop around you , have them get you a length of aluminum tig rod. That way you run less chance of damaging the tube. It runs all the way down and comes out under the car behind the ground effects. I have had some success with an air nozzle to clear minor clogs. Hope it works out.
