just a few days ago i was running the old car pretty hard, when i looked down to see how many R's i was pushing I saw that the brake light was coming on every time i punched it and held the gas to the floor, after i let up it would go off after a few seconds what could this be????

thanks for the advice in advance

On a more technical note, the reason that it turned on when you revved the engine is cause the brake booster is operated by the engine's vacuum. To see, put your car in neutral, left foot on brake and give a little pressure and then push gas with right. You will feel the brake pedal go down further/get easier to push b/c as the engine revs, the vacuum goes up.
