![]() Hi guys,
I am having trouble deciding on which gear ratio to go with. I am thinking of going with 3.55 or 3.73's. Any advice would be appreciated. |

![]() 3.73, good for road and freeway. anything higher then 373 i hear will keep your car more accelerated and can over heat your car more in the highway. so i would say 373.

Most people go with 3:73's for a 5 speed and 4:10's for AOD's I don't recommend 4:10's if you have a C-4 and drive it on the street....like I do. ![]()

![]() it depends on what you have.
Overheating from keeping it accelerated? Thats not a very intelligent statement. First of all, it will be at a higher RPM when cruising, so what? Keeping it more accelerated doesn't even make sense. If you want to know which gear to go with, without any other info on your car, or what you will be doing with it, then keep the stock 2.73's or 3.08's in there. I could recommend 3.55's if you're planning on running a C4, 30psi of boost, 28" slicks, and 135+mph trap speeds. OR I could recommend 4.56 gears if you're a high revving NA 306. The answer is "it depends"

![]() What year is the car, what have you done to it, and what transmission does it have? Also, what are your intentions with the car? Is it a daily driver?

![]() can someone help me out? I just bought a 93 Cobra the pervious owner changed the rear end from a 3:08 to 3:73. The car runs great but my speedo is way off. What do I need to do to make it right?

![]() Warlock92, you need to change your speedo driven gear on the end of your speedo cable where it meets the transmission. You will have to see if an aftermarket company offers a replacement gear for your gear ratio. According to some literature I have, Saleen Performance Parts offers a 23 tooth gear for a 93 cobra with 3.55 gears, but not sure if they make one for your 3.73's. Worst case scenario you may have to change your speedo drive gear by partially dis-assembling the transmission. Hopefully there is a driven gear available for your set up.
