|  A little birdy under the hood! Hey fellow Mustangers, got a quick question... When I take my foot off the throttle, there is a high pitched chirping noise coming from underneath the hood that goes away when I apply light pressure to the clutch pedal. WTF is going on? Its driving me batty!   I just had the clutch replaced when the engine was installed...did the crappy shop do more shoddy work on the install? Say it ain't so!  Thanks for the help, Belle |

| Well, I had a shop install my clutch. It was only becuase I didn't have access to a lift Same thing happens to Sally. When I'm at idle, there is a little squeeking noise that sounds like it's comming from the engine, but it's really the tranny. The clutch fork is just a little lose. I always have my foot on the pedal so I don't notice it unless I'm out of my car. You can try adjusting the tention on your clutch cable. Try that, it might help ya out  |

| same problem Ihad the same problem on my 95 it turned out to be the clutch fork vibrating on the ball.I would grease it and it would stay away for a while but would always come back.I finally sold the car but can still hear that sound lol!

| Is that noise you hear when you push in the clutch? I have this faint "whoop" noise when i push in the clutch in 1st gear. It's very faint and sounds like air pressure somewhere is escaping. It's definitely a pressure sound and not mechanical. Weird. Just wondering if yours sounds the same. Only in 1st gear though

| no you dont need a tranny rebuild. The throwout bearing is inside the clutch fork. It rides around the input shaft of the tranny and gives the fork something to push the pressure plate with. They come included in all clutch kits, so either the guy didnt install a new one when he put your clutch in, or it was faulty. good luck with it, -Drew

| trust me on this one Trust me on this one people,i repalced the clutvh as a kit the first time since the I thought it was the bearing too ,the second time i thought well maybe I got a bad bearing (my luck goes that way lol).The third time I started looking for something else and found it as stated in my above post.Get a new fork ball and fork and it will go away.I just keep greasing mine lol,cheap bastard i know!

| I have a 2.3l LX that does the same thing. Chirps in all gears, rest my foot on the pedal and it goes away. I've been told that it's the throw out bearing, but wouldn't that make noise when the clutch is disengaged (pedal is pushed)??? that is when it is under load. I thought the throw out bearing was just along for the ride when the clutch is engaged??

| What the ****??? The clutch is like, 3-4 months old, with under 3,00 miles on it, HD Motorsport...is this something else I can attribute to the stupid *** ******* machine shop????? Pardon my french, but it seems everytime I turn around, they have fucked me again. I've already started to try and find out what legal recourse I have against this place, so who knows---maybe this is more salt in the goddamn barrel |
