I agree with 7000rpm. Headers back is definitely the way to go if you can afford it. That's what I did and I love it. BUT I'm not a big fan of the new series of Flowmasters. I've got a set of the older style 2 chambers with turndowns and it's loud as hell (which I particularly like) but I've got a friend with a set of the newer 2 chambers on a Monte Carlo SS (and Flow's usually sound better on Chevys) that sound like they're gurgling water. Borlas kick *** if you can afford them @ around $100 per muffler...I like MACs too. You might also look into intakes. There's over half a dozen for the 5.0 so you've got quite a bit to choose from. As far as gears...if you've got a 5spd, most people go with either 3.55s or 3.73s (anything higher and you won't have much of a 1st gear). With an auto most people pick 3.73s or 4.10s. Shift kits also go well with automatics.
