Post !!!!!Loss of power at op temp!!!!!!!!

I have a 91’ stang with all the bells and whistles including a Vortech. For the first ½ hour or so, the car runs strong. But as soon as the car gets to operating temperature, it feels like the car is dropping cylinders! I am still making boost and the car roars like I’m hauling *** but it’s all show. I couldn’t even pull in front of a S-2000 the other day!! As you can tell this did not make me happy a happy camper. The temp gauge goes up to about the half way mark and the car really doesn’t overheat. I live in So CAL by the beach so the temperature is in the mid to lo 80’s. Not more. I already have a 3-core and 180 stat. Any suggestions you could make or things for me to check would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How much boost are you running? The more boost there is the more the intake charge heats up. You might need an intercooler.

I have the same problem. I havnt' really cured it I dont' think. I can't get it to run cool enough to actually see if it looses power still. I messed with my timing a bit, and it still seems to have power when I drive. Thats just in my case though.

Someone also suggested that its getting to hot in the engine compartment, and its bringing in warm air. You have ram air/cool air filter system? I'm going ot be trying that next.

It almost sounds as if your clutch is slipping. Maybe the clutch disc has something on it which starts to bleed out at higher temps. Just a guess.

I would try the ram air or intercooler. I'm pretty sure thats what it is.
