Default Low 12's?

well, heres what ive got and what i plan to do, id like a reliable low 12 second car.

its a 91 lx 5 speed, 373's, 73mm mass air, 70mm throttlebody, afpr, pulleys, ported heads(going to switch to either trick flow twisted wedge or afr 165's, which would be better fot this combo), 1.7rr's, e303 cam, full exhaust(x pipe, magnaflows and bbk 1-58 shortys) and a cobra intake.

does this combo sound capable of mid-low 12's with traction?(when the heads are on ofcourse) id hope for about 300rwhp.

are you planning on using slicks? If so, that combo with the ported stock heads is capable of running high 12's @about 105mph or so.

The AFR165's and the TFS's are both great heads and will make around 300rwhp with the combo you've listed. They'll both get you to the low 12's you're looking for, and I've even seen some 165/cobra/e-cam combos hit some 11.90's.

You might not be able to run the 1.7's with the aftermarket heads if you have stock pistons though, especially with the TFS's because of their "twisted" valve position.

Mid to low 12's should be no prob. My best time is 12.96 at 107mph, and that's with almost the exact same combo, but in a heavy ass convertable, and a SH*T box AODE.

ok, thanks for the info, looks like im on the right track!

im hoping i can get away with the 1.7's but we will see when i get there(never planned on the cam but it just sorta happened after i had the 1.7's, they work fine now but with bigger valves who knows)

so either the tfs or afr's should be able to achieve my goal.

and yes i plan on running on slicks!

I'd check piston to valve clearance with the 1.7's for sure. I'd also check it on all 4 corners.

Sounds like a low 12 sec ride to me. Throw a bottle in the trunk and we're lookin at 11.5, 11.6, and a hell of a good time!

Good luck man!

I think you're going to have too much lift with 1.7's and the e-cam if you use flattops..

the .030 dish should cover you, but check with modeler's clay...
mine was soooo close! If your going to rev the hell out of it (i.e. passed 6250), there is always the increased likelihood of contact with a roller cam...but then you just get to buy bigger parts!
good luck!
