Exclamation Flowmaster VS. Borla

Im kinda in a bind here. Trying to decide which exhaust system I should get for my 99 Mustang GT. I know flowmaster has a more powerful sound, but Borla seems to provide better performance. Flowmaster costs about $300 and Borla costs about $600. I wanna hear what people have to say on the matter, which do you use, what you prefer, etc. Please post so I can use your input to help make my decision. Thanks

Exclamation

Ummm,
My vote would be for neither...
In my opinion, flowmaster mufflers are just too loud and annoying. (Different strokes for different folks though...)
Borla products are just straight up EXPENSIVE.
Actually, if you own a 99, the stock exhaust from the cats back aren't restrictive at all, so going to an after-market system is not going to give you anything but a different sound.
If sound is your primary purchase reason, I would recommend a Dynomax system (If they have one available for 99-00 models)... It sounds mean, but the tone and volume is not aggravating.

If you're looking for a performance upgrade, save your cash and get some 3.73 gears.

Man, cat-backs are a rip off!!! just buy the mufflers and have them welded in. Leave everything else stock! The max it will cost you is $120.00 It's an easy decision.

buy the bassani catalytic X-pipe and then buy a pair of straight, flow thru mufflers (bassani, magna flow, or another choice). Must be straight flow thru. x-pipe operates best with those type of mufflers. H-pipe operates best with baffled mufflers, such as Flowmaster. Like 97Aztec said, don't worry about the whole cat-back deal. buy the X-pipe and mufflers.

I think Im going to hold off on the mufflers for now and invest in some 3.73 gears since it should save me a bit of money...whats the diffrence between 3.73 and 4.10 or 4.30? In my summit magazine the FMS Ring and Pinions all cost the same no matter what ratio you get...also is there anything else I need to complete the upgrade besides the ring and pinions?
