MAF Adjustments?

I have an 89 GT 5 speed and want to know if and how you can adjust your MAF sensor voltage. The car has failed an emissions test in Saudi Arabia and the common trick that the other guys do here with various other cars is to adjust the MAF. They just lean it out before they take their cars in. The MAF's on their cars have an adjustment screw, but the Mustang MAF dosn't appear to have one.

buy "the optimizer" from Pro-m, or a "adjuster" from IST.

try www.pro-flow.com or www.mass-air.com

Hey CSchulzy: I don't know if this will help but have you already tried giving your 'stang a fresh tuneup (plugs, cap/rotor, wires, PCV valve, etc)??? I don't know how stringent the emissions tests are in Saudi but if the car still has the cats in place (even if you don't) and is running properly it should pass emissions here in the states. I had a '91 LX with no catalytic convertors with Cobra Intake, 73 mm MAS, 65 mm Throttle body and GT40 heads and it passed with flying colors. Hope this helps. You might want to check a search engine on the Web to give you the specs on the right voltage to use for the MAS I remember seeing it somewhere but can't remember where. Jeff

When's the last time that you replaced the oxygen sensors? Do you have catalytic converters? EGR valve? What about a tune up? What type of gasoline are you using? What part of the test did you actually fail and by how much? What do they test for in Saudi Arabia?

Running leaner would help with HC but hurt NOx emissions. Advancing timing helps with NOx, but would hurt HC emissions.

What you do to fix your problem all depends on what failed.

Thanks for the help guys. I have done the plugs, wires, cap, rotor. The car does not have cats or O2 sensors. They are mixing unleaded and leaded fuel here at the moment until the stocks of leaded run out so the fuel here is not to good a quality. As they don't speak any english or in my case Australian, the guy said to me "To high, To high, and the readout I was able to see was 5.6%. The limit is 4.5%. Sorry I'll try to find out what this is.
Thanks again
Schulzy
