Default MAF help

I recently purchased a 1988 gt. I dont think that the previous owner really knew what direction to take it but, Ill give you what I know about the engine. 302 bored .030 over cobra upper and lower intake. cobra mass air and throttlebody, 19lb injectors and an F303 cam. It has also been converted from speed density. My problem is that the car feels weak. Anything above 3grand and the car doesnt want to go anywhere. It also has a slight idle problem it surges as if searching for an idle and it eventually finds it after a couple of minutes. It also has GT-40 heads(or so he said) and a nice set of equal length headers into flowmasters. Any suggestions? thanks
