Heads/Intake swap finished! Small prob though...
Alright heres the deal, I just finished swapping my heads and intake last night. I began to kinda hurry a bit since I was anxious to finish. I bolted in the intake, attached all the *****, and bolted in the upper. I got everything all bolted up and began to get it timed in. I noticed my temp guage wasnt working at all so I checked all the sensors on the lower. There is a small little plug that attaches to a pin on the front drivers side of the stock lower. The cobra had a brass plug in there, so someone took the fitting out. All it is is a fitting with a pin sticking out the top, and a little one wire plug snaps on top of it. Why did this intake not have it? Is there anyway to get around that instead of having to take the fitting out of the stock intake and bolting it in there? Other than that, everything looks pretty good. Ill post some pics when I get the chance.
Oh I cant remember who I was talking to about the comp polymers valve covers, but apparently they arent on backorder because I got mine on tuesday and they fit fine. I ordered them straight from comp.

i believe that sensor is for your guage, so if you want a gauge then you need that fitting, with the nipple sticking out of the top.
about the valve covers: do you have roller rockers and do they clear, also do they let more valve train noise through. |

That is the air charge temp sensor I believe. I actually had to drill and tap my Cobra intake for it (I think the 94-95 cobras had that sensor relocated). The sensor goes into the lower manifold over cyl 5 and the plug comes off the wiring harness for the fuel injectors. There are ways to relocate the sensor, but I found it easier to just put it in the existing place.
It wouldn't be connected to your water temp though. The gauge I'm talking about measures the air charge temperature and supplies the info to the computer for fuel ratios or something. If your temp gauge isn't working I would think that's another issue alltogether.

That is the engine temp sensor. There like 7 dollars at napa and the wire that plugs on top of it is your sensor wire. I replaced mine about 2 months ago when my gague was acting up.

off the subject...
Who cares about the dam gauge... How does the car run with the heads and new intake on!?
You can also tap the thermostat housing and put a sensor in there, but it would be easier to use the existing location so that the wire will reach.
