Default Water pump install...

Well, it seems that I have tackled every project on a Mustang known to man except the water pump. I bought a new one and it came with a cheap paper gasket. Will I be O.K. using this gasket with a little RTV on both sides? Any other tricks? I want to do it right the first time. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like a lower intake where you trash the gasket and use RTV only. Thanks.

Yeah a paper gasket is all you need.

Drain radiator first.

Just use some good sealer, and clean all surfaces good. Let the sealer tack up a little before bolting on.

Don't over tighten the bolts, some only go into the aluminum front cover.

take it easy removing the waterpump bolts, as they break pretty easy. Been there done that, we had to pull the timing chain cover to get a broken bolt out.
