Sick 88 Gt Computer problems?
My Buddy has a 88 Gt with only 49k miles on it. His car keeps dieing! The engine starts to rev at 500rpm then just dies. He thinks it might have something to do with the HOT arizona weather!? It usually doesn't have problems in cool weather. If he lets it sit for an hour or so it runs fine for a while! I think it is the computer. Does anyone know of 88 Gts haveing similar problems? Or 88 ford 5.0's have simmilar problems? I asked my Father and he said the brain is bad. I assume that means the computer? I told my buddy to try using another computer. He is located in Tempe, Arizona. Does anyone know of any stang shops in the Phoniex or Scottsdale area? Possibly related the Tach likes to sit arond 4,000 rpm when it is ideling. IT doesn't idel at 4,000 but the tach displays it. Does any one think that this might be realted? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

I seriously doubt that the ECM (computer) is to blame. It could be several things, but first off, he needs to check the ECM for codes. If this is beyond his ability, then he needs to find someone who is capable. If he does this, post the codes he received here, and we'll go from there.
Take care, -Chris

It's probably the TFI module then. Has he checked the fuel pressure?
Take care, -Chris

You need a tester to test it. it is mounted to the side of the distributor, and is what translates the signals from the distributor to the ECM.
Take care, -Chris
