Default Mallory ignition question

I went to start my '82 tonight and all of a sudden it doesn't start.
Then I noticed that the positive wire to the coil was melted against the header!!
I have a Mallory distributor that has the module inside the cap. Do you think I shorted out the module? I'm not getting any voltage across the coil now.
