A manual valve body is very reliable. Just as durable or better than regular. They're just as streetable as regular, you just have to decide when to shift. There are two shift patterns:
Regular pattern: P-R-N-3-2-1
Reverse pattern: P-R-N-1-2-3
The reverse pattern is nice because you can't accidentally miss 3rd gear and hit neutral.
If you're interested, I have a Performance Automatic reverse pattern manual valve body for sale. It has less than 500 miles of use. They're around $150 new, I'll sell it for half that + shipping.
