Manual Rack
Almost have my 4 cylinder to 5.0 conversion complete and I want to run a manual rack from Autozone but I need some info. Which endlinks work with this rack and where can I get the smaller rag joint that you need to make the steering connect!!! Somebody Help!!! Or give me other manual rack solutions????

i've been looking into a manual rack for mine ,there's a couple of company's that make parts for them....i know wild rides chassi products has i kit..... www.wildridesracecars.com ........get a mustang magizine and comb through ads ......i saw a couple of company's that offer the parts ,but can't recall off the top of my head .......
they did make these cars with manual steering but they are rare autozone might have the parts but it might only be listed for the year models with manual sterring.........i'm not sure what years had the manuall racks .......i know my 4 cl 80 capri has one thats origanal but other then that one i've never found another fox manuall rack car that was origanally a manuall......keep me posted if you find anything out ........i plan to put one on mine but not for a while ..........how much is the rack from autozone any way

The autozone rack is $114.00. I found a place online last night at 1-800-333-0600. I will give them a call on Monday!!!

Use a bump-steer kit for the outter tie rod ends. Several companies (Summit, Jeg's...)supply them. Good idea to install off-set mounting bushings as well. Mustang Parts Specialites has a nice replacement manual rack as well.

Flaming River also has a good manual rack setup, their kit is more expensive than autozones though. They offer different ratios for drag or road racing, and probably fit up better than most other setups.

You can reuse your power outer tie rod ends with the manual rack, at least I was able to. Just measure it out and make sure that you've got good thread engagement since some TRE's are shorter than others. I ended up having almost 1 1/2" of engagement in both ends. The rag joint can be ordered from any Ford dealership. It runs about $39. Email me at jchambers@kellnet.com and I'll dig up the actual part number tonight when I get home. All told, I only have about $150 in my manual setup...a bunch cheaper than the Flaming River setup!

My little brother and I put my Flaming River rack in Yesterday. It wasnt hard at all in my opinion. Getting all the joints in was time consuming but not hard. I got mine used with all the hardware and joints for $50 bucks. I got lucky. I would've never paid full price for one but I lucked out. It took us about four (4) hours to put mine in. I recommend if you do this dont not have long tube headers. Mines is REAL close. I'll get some pictures and post em just for you to see.
