Default 24 #ers instead of 30#ers

i currently have 30 # injectors in my car. i am told these are way too big and should go with 24#ers to increase performance as well as driveability. my question is, what needs to be done to the MAF if anyhting for the 24#ers? do i need to send it somewhere and get it recalibrated or do i need to buy a new one? what would be the cost for each scenario, and do yo think it is worth it with my set up? Thanks,

Jim

I would have a chip burned or buy a PMS so I could pull some fuel out before I'd send a MAF out to be recalibrated for 1 size smaller injectors.

Its easy to find dirt cheap 24# electronics for you mass air meter since some ford car came factory with 24# injectors.

What type of mass air sensor do you have. I have a pro-m and I use the stock 19# electronics and change out the sample tubes for diferent sized injectors.

You can simply take the black box off of a meter calibrated for 24#ers off of a factory meter and bolt it on to your sensor housing. Its really no big deal.

If you do end up needing a set of 24's, let me know. I have a set for sale on the corral. In fact, theres several sets and several meters for sale over there.

My good friends teenage son has about the same combo as you. He made 275 at the wheels with 24's. He would like to have 30's now, but he's got a SQ sitting on the shelf for it and he'll switch to 42's then. Do you get MM&FF? That car was in there late last year, I cant remember exactly what issue. They did a story on the whole Systemax2 kit.

Have you had your car on the dyno?

so, he must think that the 30#ers would make more power. I havent had my car on the dyno, all I know is that the holly systemax II "CLAIMS" to put out 350 HP. I know this is way too high though. All I have are my 1/4 mile times in sig to "guess" how much power im making.
Has your friends son had any problems with too much oil pressure and being sucked out for the TB?

In your situation with the proper tune, I dont think there would be any power gains with the 30's versus the 24's. Your not close enough to maxing out the 24's where 30's are necessary. At the same time with the proper tuning device, you could keep all your 30# stuff and tune around them. I'm certain you would find some power then. Then in the future if you needed more fuel, you could just retune it, instead of looking for another set of injectors and maf, like the ones you just sold.

THanks for the info. sounds like i need to see a dyno and go from there. although, I havent sold any injectors though, i was looking at possibly buying some 24's.

I would put the 19#'rs back in. I dynoed 300 to the wheels on them with no problems at all. Even with the 75 shot, I dont think you are at that level yet.
