Mass Air Bracket?

Is that metal bracket that connects the mass air to the shock tower really necessary?

Wouldn't it have less vibration if it wasn't bolted directly to the car like that? Because without that bracket, it's just supported by the rubber tubing on both ends and I think it would be better that way.

What do you all think Ford's reasons were to spend the time designing, and the money making that bracket?

Is it really necessary and mandatory to have that bracket installed?

Right now, I have the MAC fenderwell cold air induction and I not using the bracket for the mass air and have had no trouble with vibration or anything like that. I don't think it is necessary to have it, but I'm sure someone else will give another opinion.
