Mass Air Meter question
Can I port and polish my stock mass air meter ('89 Mustang GT), or will the mass air meter read falsely if it's modified for more flow (most of the porting would be bringing the diameter out)? I don't really want to pay $200 for a mass air meter i'll probably replace down the road again anyways or if i can get a few horsepower for free.

Dont. It screws up the calibration, and you will hurt, not gain, performance.
Best MAF are the stock ones. I got a Lincoln 80mm MAF and had Pro-M port the I-beam out of it and flow it. $200 for the meter and $125 for port/flow (with printed flowsheet). Runs clean as a whistle and good to 1200cfm. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) http://www.dariusrudis.com/images/mustangindex.jpg My Mustang Page |
DO NOT PORT THE MAF!!!!! It definitely will not run well afterwards.
If you want a cheap, larger, factory maf, I have a 70mm MAF from my '93 Cobra that I am selling. If you want it, e-mail me at jmel@nls.net Jake |
