Stock intake, mass air, and throttle body
When I get new heads, and my compression is 10:1 with the E-303 cam; will the stock intake, mass air, and throttle body be restrictive?
We only have 91 octane pump gas around here. Will 10:1 be as high as I can run, or will 91 be able to handle 10.5:1? If I get a blower in the future, will the "high" compression be a "bad thing"? Also, I still have the stock 88lph fuel pump and 19lb injectors. Should I get a 110, 155, or 190 pump? Which pump will be enough? What would be a good starting point to set the fuel pressure too? I'm going to take it to the track and get some 1/4 mile times on it and run it on a dyno when I find one. |

It will choke the engine.
I wouldn't push compression higher than 10:1 on pump gas to be safe. It could very well be. Blowers increase cylinder pressure by forcing air in. The bigger the chamber (ie lower compression) the more effectively the blower can work. Get a 190 or a 255 depending on your budget. I'd start with 40psi with the vacuum off and go from there. I would also think 24 lb injectors a very minimum with a blower. My advice would be choose your route. High compression N/A or the blower/turbo route. Then figure on how much boost you want to run, and build up to that. I'm building a street oriented N/A 302 with 9.5:1 and with no plans for a blower, only nitrous, so compression is different there. I'm positive that others here can give you better advice on the blowers, the biggest thing to do is plan what you want to do with your car and build it to that. |

I was going to build a "high compression" N/A motor, then if that "wasn't enough", I was going to add a blower.
Could I safely add a "small" 5 - 8 psi blower to a 10:1 block with the stock bottom end? Would it take it and would it work out ok? |
