Default Master Cylinder

Just purchased what should be a 94 master cylinder for my 87 GT to convert it to a five lug rear disc conversion. The new master cylinder does not have the same mounting studs or holes as the old. If I was to mount the 94 master as is, the resorvoir would be at a 45 degree angle as opposed to straight up and down as the original. Do I have the wrong master cylinder as desribed, or is there some kind of modification I need to make to make this work? Has anyone else had this same problem?
