Question Missing Camaro??

Is it true?? GM is phasing out the Camaro/Firebird?? I really can't believe that. But if it's true, we should all be upset. Yeah, I am a true blue Ford guy now but my first 5 cars were Chevys (4 Camaros and 1 Chevelle). I know this Ford vs. Chevy thing goes back a long way, but I never really played into it. I love AMERICAN cars. Especially today when I have all these little piece of (fill in favorite explitive here) imports reving their pesky little chain saw motors when I'm at a light. It does give me a little chuckle, but then I realize that the same kids building these import racers are the same type of kids (like me and most of you) who were hot rodding Camaros and Mustangs 10 years ago. Anyway, can someone let me know where you heard this rumor. It would be a sad day for ALL car lovers if this turns out to be true.

Yeah it's true they will be phasing out the F-bodies and the Monte Carlo will become the performance car. All though I heard a rumor that the Camaro will be back in a modernized design of the 69' bodystyle. That would be cool, I love that body style.

They may be gone but their will be plenty of F-body's still running around in my rear view mirror for many years to come

That is probably the best news I've heard all day! My very first car was a 1984 Camaro and that was probably the largest hunk of crap I've ever owned. I bought it with 76000 miles on it and the engine decided it had enough at about 80,000 then I went through all of the trouble of replacing the damn thing and the tranny went. You probably can understand why I'm a ford man. This is my third Stang and they never give me any major problems. First one was a race car , totalled it, second was a fixer upper (500.00) that I never seemed to get the money together to fix up so I sold it for what I paid (500.00) and my third is a beauty, a black 1990 convertible GT. I absolutely love it .
You know after whoooping so many camaros, I realy could care less about them. Anyway LOOK at the things, they just kept getting more and more ugly.

I couldn't agree with 90'5.0GT anymore. I do have to say that performance wise, they are pretty nasty but to see one of those damn camaros driving down the street is a damn eyesore. I won't miss em too much.

I heard after the rumor that the F-body was going to be cancelled a GM official came out and said that the Firebird/Camaro would skip a year for a redesign. I'm pretty sure that were not going to have those things off the streets for long.

the camaro going away is not a good thing. The camaro and firebird are the biggest competitor of the mustang, and with no competition, ford is not going to improve the mustang. They are going to either keep it the way it is, or drop the performance. the next step up is the vette, and people aren't ready for a 20,000 dollar increase in price for their ride. hopefully, if the monte is their new performance car, they will bring it close to the performance level of the camaro.

in a 300 lbs heavier car.
Can't wait till Spring for E-town.

I one of my issues of Motor Trend mag they have some drawings of a possible new camaro and new mustang for the year 2004 four. Both cars have syling dating back to there original styling of the 60's.The lastest fad is bringing back cars from the past-prowler,beetle,pt criuser, thunderbird, whch I think all these cars are very ugly with the esception of maybe the thunderbird.Which costs forty thousand way to much for a ford.I would rather have a bmw or corvette rather than a thundrebird.
