![]() LOL j/k, hey guys i got a problem, i went to the track and couldnt do any better than 14.4@ 95, then a couple 14.5's and 14.6, so i gave up and went home frustrated.
ok latest upgrades: ads chip, steeda waterpump pulley, and i just replaced the stat with a 195 stock, (old one was laying in intake, in pieces) but now it runs hotter of course, should i take it back out? im definately losing some power along the way, but it was hot and humid outside, so humid my clothes felt like they were sticking to me, and also i couldnt manage no better than a 2.1 60', i was spinning from idle, (track conditions sucked) im disapointed, and fixin to pull the chip out, and get rid of the stat so my car is back to its old self, also i just changed oil with mobil1 synth, still have yr old plug wires. any opinions? But i should of at least been trapping at 96-97mph... ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. Best time: 13.9116(on 225/60/15 firehawks) Best mph: 98.17 Best 60': 1.9607 next mods: subframes, mac h-pipe |

![]() I think you summed it up with the track conditions.....
No traction = low ET Hot, humid weather = low ET Motors need dense, cool air to make good power. I would suspect your best ETs were when the weather was not so hot. Also, your combination seems a little odd. I've never heard of a chip using a 195 degree thermostat. I've never had much luck with mass-produced aftermarket chips, but I wouldn't think it would hurt your performance. ![]() If it's humid, you should be able to run more timing advance. The moisture in the air should keep combustion temps down. Just be sure to put it back to timing for average conditions.

![]() Thanx guys, i feel a little better, the conditions im sure played a part, i had timing at 13-14 with 93 octane, 89cobralx, i think you brought up a good point, i got the chip for free, and should have known it should be used with a 160-180 stat, also i should have an o-r h-pipe with the chip, i think a cat cvrtr is clogged too.
heh, we checked timing on my friends 85 coupe (carbed) car, he had like 20 degrees of timing, so we were like holy #$%, but he ran a 13.3 @101, and 105 mph on the next run. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs.
