I knew a guy with an 85 coupe, he drove the car for a while before he tore down the motor to find out the pistons were hitting the valves at times,(had nos) there was no noise.
Im not saying you have this problem, just saying you might not always know right away if your making contact with the valves.

On another note, no one mentioned the gear situation?
do you have 2.73's?
if so, throw some 4.10's in that thing!!! an e-cam + 2.73 gears = a ricer leaving you in the dust.
that cam needs at least a 3.55 gear to make up for the lowend loss, it will feel like a dog otherwise.
