which motor mounts?

i want (need) to replace my motor (and tranny) mounts and was wondering what i should go with on my 90 GT? it is daily driven in the summer and want to go higher performance than stock rubber. dont really nimd if it is a little more shakey inside but dont want it to be like im in a earthquake either.

where is the cheapest to get them and how much is reaonable?

thanks for the help.

i got the doan ones from a friend for 45 new for the pair.(i thought it was reasonable). the mounts are convertable mounts which are alot better than stock. the energy suspension ones are the best but there 140 on up.

go with convertable mounts for motor and energy mount for trans.

Ditto....I changed over to the convertable mounts and poly tranny mount several years ago with a huge improvement over stock. Price is right too. Actually, I think I bought mine from someone from this forum, they were new and he gave me a great price. Nice people around here :)

so what is the difference between the stock convertable mounts and the stock GT mounts?

thanks for the help!

I think the convertables set your engine a little bit lower than the gt's do, which in turn lowers its the front ends center of gravity and adds a handling advantage. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

if that is true then are they actually stiffer than the stock GT's? i want something that is going to give me a little more rotating holding power than stock. like polyurethane. please let me know?

thanks again

Actually I think they are a little taller, and they are stiffer and better than your stock mounts.

The convertable mounts are just slightly shorter, about 1/8". You will not notice the difference except at install as they will go in a little easier than the old ones came out.

The difference in construction is the vert mounts have a steel stiffener molded into the rubber. Making them a little stronger and stiffer.
