Motor's F'd up...so I'm building a stroker
Tear down of my motor showed #7 and #8 pistons were slamming the head. Rather than rebuilding, I decided to go with a 331.
I'm building this one myself to save $. The new motor has a Scat cast crank, 4340 I beam rods, Probe dish pistons, and billet main support. I was worried about using a cast crank, but everyone is saying it will outlive the stock block. It's costing me $600 more than a 306. It's mostly for a new 28 oz. balancer and flywheel. So $600 for 30+ hp? That's only $20 per hp, which is cheap hp. All the parts are in my garage waiting for assembly and I can barely wait to get it running. I had traction problems before...guess it will be worse now. |
Looking at your other rides, I would think you would be used to traction problems. J/K

Have fun with the stroker build-up. I think you'll love a blown 331.
SCAT makes some great stuff from what I hear. Keep us posted on the build-up. E |

So, a lot of parts are coming from Summit and should be on my doorstep by Friday. The shortblock should be done by this weekend. The file-to-fit rings will probably require the most time, but I'm trying hard not to rush things. Dave, my worse car for traction is the 5.0, lol. |
I`m not supprised, my combo looks very similar to yours.
