Cool Emmissions trick.

Guys i have the vet and im goin to try to get her through i have an E cam and twisted wedge heads, long tube headers, and shorty H pipe with high flow cats *but there not on yet* neither is any of the smog. My question is i know you gut the air pump and make a dummy out of it but is the air pump hoses and cats all you need? or am i missing anything? God speed.

Why would you gut the smog pump? You do that then it won't pump air into you cats and they will clog ruining them. Will those mods you will probably pass anyway. If you don't just unplug one of the injectors and that creates a air pump that pumps oxygen into the exhuast there by lowering the ratings. Try it, it will work and won't hurt your car.

Cool

Yeah but its a law here when they look under the hood they have to see the pump connected to everything so it might pass like it is but they do a mirrior test for the cats and look under the hood for the pump and lines. I plan to pull an injector. my bro has a 88GT mine is a 89 so im just going to set them side by side to hook my smog pump up and dummy everything accept the line to the cats to make it look just like his. I think itl work i dont see why it wouldnt. I just hate the 360 bucks for the hpipe!

Cool

Just take the heat shields for the cats off a stock cat pipe and tack weld them aroung your off-road pipe. That should help you as far as the visual goes.

Lightbulb

Thats a good idea but wont NOT having the cats on there make it less likely to pass?

Hehehe, so much work for such little benefit.

Just add some iso heet to the gas man.

Spend 2hrs yanking the smog pump (worth like 3hp, whoop de doo) and putting it back on each year.

I'd rather keep my cats from plugging by leaving it on, personally.

I passed no problen in Indiana with the E cam & no smog gear except the ERG. No I have a .550 lift cam & long tubes with cats & still pass. Thing that work to help (I picked these up from other people I never had to use them): alcohol in the fuel, retard the timing, take out the air filter, turn the timing up to like 1200.
