mustang=grand national
whats up all,i am the previous owner of an 87 grand national with a chip air filter and some other minor stuff,it was fast and i liked it ,but it got stolen,now i have alot of insurance money and im buying an 87-93 mustang,what do i need to make the mustang accelerate like the gn,and how much would it cost?i have about 2500 for mods/thanks

Odds are, it'll accelerate faster right off the bat. Mustangs are lighter than Nashes...and the five-oh isn't exactly a slug of an engine.

A stock 87-93 5.0 Mustang runs mid-14's and your GN probably ran high 13's, maybe a bit quicker.
To get 13's from a stock 5.0 I suggest 3.73 rear gears, a PRO 5.0 shifter, Edelbrock or TW heads and intake, headers and an H-pipe plus a 190 lph FP, adjustable fuel regulator and a hotter coil along with other minor parts. $2,500. is more than enough to do it right. With decent rubber you can see low-mid 13's easily. Have fun. |

You know your neighborhood better than I do, but I would recommend an alarm if it's going to be parked outside.
