You didn't say anything on AIM about why you are replacing it.
What happened? Did you just suddenly lose all oil pressure? Are you sure its not the sending unit?

Under the car won't be easy. If you have access to a engine hoist, then you support the motor by that, remove the motor mount bolts, and loosen the tranny crossmember. Then you should be able to lift the motor enough to get the oilpan to clear the K-member. You might wanna take off your swaybar just for a little extra clearance (and one less thing to bang your hands on).

How many miles do you have on your motor? If its pretty high, then I'd pull the motor, so you can replace the bearings. You could also easily pull the heads and do some porting, new springs and a valve job.

But if you are on a tight budget, and dont mind having dirt and rust fall in your eyes, then crawl underneath it and go at it. Just make sure you get the pan to block mating surface really clean, and use gasket tack to hold the oil pan gasket on while you slide it back up in there.

good luck with it man, later

ok, the oil pump driveshaft broke, when i started it to drive to work from school, i noticed a funny sound, and thought my water was completly empty, and i was hearing the water pump fan thing spin, so i drove real easy(under 2krpms the whole way, going 35 in 5th, with the fan on) for 10km to work, we got the small(bottom) end out, like 1/2" of it, and the longer piece we spent from 10am-2pm(thanks for the help Dad) trying to get out with a magnet pencil thing. finally it fell out of reach, and we think its in the oil pan. now we are not sure how high we need to jack the motor to get in the oil pan with the magnet thing? this is gona be a pain in the @$$ if we need to undo everything.....

thanks for any help

if you have AOL INSTANT MESSANGER, and can help, please try to catch me on it sometime.
