Are my Synchronizers out?

I have been experiencing problems with 2nd gear in my stock 95 GT. When I go to shift into 2nd gear, the shifter feels like it engages the gear. However, as soon as I release the clutch, the transmission pops out of gear (the actual shifter pops out). If I hold the shifter really tightly into second gear while releasing the clutch, it makes a popping sound and will go into 2nd most of the time. Does anybody know what the nature of my problem is?

Seeing all these post really depresses me http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif yes your synchro is going, but if you have an aftermarket shifter, check the stops, other than that get ready for a rebuild, it'll probaly last a while till things get worse, just never know?

I have the same problem basically, but my 2nd gear is completely gone now. It just chatters away. I will be getting it fixed under extended warranty, but I would like to know some things...I've heard the "cluster" and a few other things like the gear itself could be bad also. Could anyone tell me what other things could need replacement along with a synchro? Thanks.
